After graduating from FAST-NUCES, Burhan worked in a couple of product based startups, getting hands on Software Development experience added with the opportunity to work and coordinate with cross-functional international teams and learn Software Engineering best practices.
Apart from his professional life, Burhan has also been leading a very passionate social life, contributing both financially and personally, by taking out time to look into the administrative affairs of the Alumni Association of his Alma Mater. He has the honor of being the youngest twice elected full-tenured President of the Alumni Association.
Burhan is currently based in Lahore-Pakistan, working as Director (Software Engineering), Punjab Information Technology Board, Government of Punjab, living with his lovely wife and adorable kid.

Punjab Information Technology Board is the IT arm of Government of Punjab, to develop and implement consequential strategies and to enable the Punjab Province achieve its IT potential.

OSM Invention was the Software Development Office of Organic Spread Media, a New York based Social Media Technology Company, backed by private equity, MK Media Ventures and Gotham Innovation, having exclusive strategic partnership with Brand Connections—a Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS) portfolio company.
Burhan started off as Director Engineering & Program Management and was later promoted as Chief Technology Officer. His main area of focus was to look into PMO and team building activities, including reaching out to Software Professionals, handling products, people, processes and Managing campaign projects for big agencies like Digitas, M80, and Razorfish with tight deadlines and immense pressure.
Manager IT | 2010 – 2011
Kissan Engineering is a Lahore based Mechanical Engineering Company, with over 200 welders, fabricators, hydraulic specialists and painters. In addition to its wide product range, Kissan Engineering has a very flexible production system which allows it to customize, configure and optimize its machines to match any customer requirements.
As Manager IT of Kissan Engineering, Burhan was responsible for developing the IT Strategy of the company, including decisions related to which Software to develop and which ones to procure off-the-shelf.
Burhan had been involved in the post-implementation phase of SAP Business One wherein he developed a Data Transformation Utility that extracts data from an Excel file and loads it to the relevant SAP Business Object (as a Draft Document) after doing some required automated tweaking. The minimal estimated time that this Utility has saved for Kissan Engineering is 12 hours per week.
Burhan has also been involved in developing onsite Search Engine Optimization strategy, starting with basic keyword analysis to content writing and then implementation of the strategy across all web pages of the company.

FAST-NU is the oldest and most prestigious Computer Science Institute in Pakistan, founded in early 1980s. Its Alumni makes up 80% of all Software Engineers in Top 100 Software Houses of Pakistan. In addition to local market, FAST-NU Alumni are working across the globe in companies like Microsoft, Google, Sales Force, HP, IBM and World Bank.
As President of the Alumni Association, Burhan developed an extensive network of contacts with the best Software resources that FAST-NU has produced and created a bridge between the Academia, Industry and Alumni.
His responsibilities included arranging funds for scholarships, maintaining the Alumni Directory, being an Alumni Liaison with the Administration of University and organizing Social Events for the Alumni.
Senior Research Officer | 2008 – 2010
Under the supervision of Dr. Fakhar Lodhi, Burhan managed, guided and gave technical trainings to students and coordinating with OrangeHRM, an open source software development community, in bug fixing and feature development activities. The idea was to involve students in real projects and relate Software Engineering Concepts along the way.
It was a great learning experience for him, as far as Software Engineering and Software Project Management is concerned.
Senior Software Engineer | 2006 – 2008
Burhan started off as Software Quality Assurance Engineer in June 2006. He displayed some amazing programming skills and got promoted into Software Engineer department, working on development of a couple of document conversion software tools before becoming the Tech Lead.
Later CambridgeDocs diversified from just document conversions company to Facebook applications development, and Burhan was amongst the few fortunate ones whom the company selected for this new opportunity.
Before moving on to assist Dr. Fakhar Lodhi in his research initiative, Burhan was leading a couple of Software Development teams at CambridgeDocs.
Software Engineer | 2006 – 2006
Under the supervision of Mr. Momin Rashid (Project Manager), Burhan worked on the business layer of a web-based product, providing micro-money transfer solution through email (Java, J2EE). Later, under Mr. Nasir Danish (Principal Software Engineer), he refined the business layer of the same micro-money transfer solution, to enable same set of features through SMS.
Software Developer | 2001 – 2005
Burhan worked at Riaz Electric Company as an OS and LAN Troubleshooter. Later in September 2003, his role shifted to software development. He started off with the development of a simple automated system to solve Company’s Warranty Card issues. But later it evolved into a mini-ERP system, providing various functionalities related to HR, customer, vendor and dealer management

Government of the Punjab - August 2012
In order to highlight innovation in Pakistan and to create the right policy environment to empower thousands & more, innovation heroes, the Punjab Government initiated The Innovation Punjab campaign. Burhan was among the select few to have been honored the Innovation Hero Award for his role in developing the (smartphones based) Monitoring Platform that helped a great deal in controlling the dengue epidemic in 2012
Pakistan Army - January 1999
As part of the National Cadet Corps Training by the Pakistan Army, Burhan was selected as the Company Commander to lead the passing out parade. It was a huge honor for him at such a young age.
